Ben Van Nespen was born in Antwerp (Belgium) in 1978. At the age of 15, he played his first solo recital with Messiaen’s “La Nativité du Seigneur”. 

He studied at the Lemmens Instituut in Leuven (Louvain, B), where he obtained the master degree for organ with Reitze Smits and harpsichord with Kris Verhelst. He also attended masterclasses by Jos Van Immerseel, Joris Verdin, Louis Robilliard, Ludger Lohmann, Hans-Ola Ericsson, Herman Stinders, Alan Weiss...
He obtained a first prize for harpsichord at the Belgian National Music Competition “Pro Civitate” and a first prize at the 7th Organ Competition of Leiden (NL), in the category “20th Century music”.
As a soloist on the organ and harpsichord, he is interested in the study of the historical repertoire in relation to the original instruments, as well as in the performance of new repertoire. He realised some first performances of works by contemporary Flemish composers (Gerard De Clercq, Frans Geysen, Lucien Goethals, Frank Nuyts, Piet Swerts, Martin Valcke, Sebastiaan Van Steenberge, …)
As a continuo player, he appeared with Anima Eterna, B’Rock, Concerto d'Amsterdam, Currende, Hildebrandt Consort, Musica Favola, Octopus, Oltremontano, Red Herring and Ricercar Consort.
He played concerts in France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Holland, Austria, Poland and Sweden.
As an organ and harpsichord teacher, he is working in the Music Academy’s of Ekeren and Wilrijk.
In 2011, he realised his first solo recording on the historical « Le Royer » organ in Turnhout.

Né à Anvers en 1978, Ben Van Nespen a joué son premier récital d’orgue à l’age de 15 ans, avec « La Nativité du Seigneur » d’Olivier Messiaen.
Il a étudié l’orgue (Reitze Smits) et le clavecin (Kris Verhelst) au Lemmensinstituut à Leuven. Il a également participé à des différents cours de maîtrise, ateliers et confèrences donnés par des musiciens tels que Jos Van Immerseel, Joris Verdin, Louis Robilliard, Ludger Lohmann, Hans-Ola Ericsson, Herman Stinders, Alan Weiss...
Il a obtenu le Premier Prix pour clavecin au concours « Pro Civitate » (’96-’97), aussi que le Premier Prix au Septième Concours d’orgue à Leiden (NL), à la catégorie « musique du Vingtième Siècle ».
En 2009, il a été le premier Belge à gagner le Premier Prix du Concours International d’Orgue « Musica Antiqua » à Bruges.
En tant que soliste, il s’intéresse au répertoire historique aussi que la musique contemporaine. Il a participé à la création d’œuvres de compositeurs contemporains flamands, tels que Lucien Goethals, Frans Geysen, Frank Nuyts, Piet Swerts, Martin Valcke et Sebastiaan Van Steenberge.
Il est invité par des ensembles tels que Anima Eterna, B’Rock, Concerto d'Amsterdam, Currende, Hildebrandt Consort, Musica Favola, Octopus, Oltremontano, Red Herring et Ricercar Consort.
Il s’est produit en France, au Royaume-Uni, en Allemagne, Italie, au Pays-Bas, en Autriche, Pologne et Suède.
Il enseigne l’orgue et le clavecin aux Académies de Musique de Ekeren et Wilrijk.
En 2013, il a réalisé un enregistrement à l’orgue historique « Le Royer » de Turnhout.
